Walter is the core of Swisscoding’s operations (and also a product offering within the portfolio of CASC – Computer Aided Swiss Coding). It is a system that I designed, built and iterated on for 5 years.
One of Walter’s key users was the CFO of Swisscoding — Walter enabled contract planning, simple and quick validation, integration with planning tools, and payment facilitation for him and his team.
This User Story is part of a larger Case Study on the solution developed for Swisscoding.

Billing through Walter – Integration & Flexibility
“Source of Truth” for the CFO: With practically all of Swisscoding’s operational data residing in Walter’s data systems, it made sense to integrate end-to-end company processes (including billing and payments) within the Walter.
Complex Contract Structures and Predictive Modelling: There was a desire to offer the clients great flexibility in the contract definitions, but Swisscoding also needed to integrate planning tools that would account for the ever-changing demands of such a flexible system.
As the singular repository of all the case information and time spent by the users, Walter soon became a CRM tool for Swisscoding and was used to simplify the contract definition, business intelligence and invoicing processes.

Walter as a Planning, CRM & Invoicing Tool.
From subscription based to volume-based and ad-hoc billing, Walter allowed for flexible contract definition and tracking of projects with each client.
Correlation and consolidation of activity with contract specifications was a key feature of the system and made available throughout.
Equally transparent and statistically rich reports were sent to the clients each month and direct invoice payment facilitation was also made possible (through BVR/QR code based payment systems).
Walter thus served as a unified accounting tool as well, and allowed for failsafe invoice customisation, validation and became a cog in Swisscoding’s CRM.
Walter allows me to keep a watchful eye on all my key KPIs, cascade contract changes to the opertational teams and clients alike, and the invoicing takes me all of 15 minutes every month!
